Jean-Luc Verna is back in Nice, his home town, for a full exhibition. And this is already, in itself, wonderful news for Espace à vendre – and for its visitors!
The exhibition, from October 29, 2022 to January 7, 2023, will offer the opportunity to discover the multiple media used by the artist (drawing, sculpture, photography) deployed in the entire place: the gallery, the showroom, the patio and the castle, for a total of nearly 250 m2 of exhibition space.
Welcome back to funky town Jean-Luc Verna !
This exhibition, which looks like a monograph, will honor the drawing, the backbone of Jean-Luc Verna’s practice, presented in its various formats, always rare and precious, and made for the most part especially for this exhibition in Nice, which will always keep the same title as all his solo shows since the beginning:
— Vous n’êtes pas un peu beaucoup maquillé ? — Non. (You don’t wear a lot of makeup? – No.)
Jean-Luc Verna benefited in 2016 from a monographic exhibition at the Mac/Val in Vitry-sur-Seine and more recently at the Salomon Foundation in Annecy. His drawings have been exhibited as part of the Guerlain donation at the Centre Pompidou – Paris; as well as during the exhibition 1984-1999 La décennie at the Centre Pompidou – Metz in 2014. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions (Centrale for Contemporary Art – Brussels, MuCEM – Marseille, Centre Pompidou – Paris, Forde – Geneva, Villa Arson – Nice, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Mac/Val, etc.).
His works are presented in prestigious collections such as MoMA – New York, The Judith Rothschild Foundation, Flourtown, RAM Foundation – Amsterdam, Centre Pompidou – Paris, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Mac/Val – Vitry-sur-Seine, Printemps de septembre in Toulouse, as well as many regional funds of contemporary art.
A reference monograph is available in the collection Création contemporaine, co-edited by Flammarion/Cnap, as well as a catalog published by the Mac/Val.
